Habitat Restoration Through Boat Sinking

Description

The culmination of RD’s multifaceted solution is implementation of marine area enhancements, such as the 5th generation Human Made Reef (HMR), to allow time for reef structures to redevelop and enhance marine biodiversity. Their implementation will involve the indigenous fishermen in the construction, manufacture, and deployment. This will create feelings of ownership for the fishing communities. The HMR is designed to attract coral and other marine species; this enhances the recovery rate of marine ecosystems and improves existing coral cover and replenishment index. Part of the project goal is to guide the indigenous fishermen to enhance existing biodiversity rather than to simply conserve, by creating a sense of belonging.

As transparency towards environmental work seems to unconventional, we at Oceanway wanted to make sure our process is open for everyone to see. We are truly committed to improving marine habitats in sustainable ways and our team has put together a prompt documentary to show people all around the world on what we do.
